OCS frontman Simon Fowler to share exclusive new songs on new tour

Posted on 09 October 2026

The book will be launched for pre-sale on October 16 before being published on December 1. It will also form the basis for an acoustic tour of stories and songs, which will start in Exmouth on February 17, 2027, and runs through spring, with a second leg in spring 2028.

Simon is the singer/songwriter who wrote the tunes for the Britpop generation. As frontman for Ocean Colour Scene (OCS), he penned The Riverboat Song, The Circle, The Day We Caught The Train, Moseley Shoals and many, many more.

Lining up alongside Oasis at Knebworth, he took his band from Birmingham to the height of 1990s fame. Writing the seminal, triple-platinum Moseley Shoals, as well as the number one follow-up, Marchin’ Already, Simon will relive his best work during an evening of classic songs and stories.

Simon said: “I found the cassette tape with a dozen or more songs – they transported me right back to those days before Ocean Colour Scene and before my previous band, The Fanatics. It was amazing to listen to them and to hear the way in which my music developed. I’m delighted that people will get to hear them and that there’s a book which explains the story behind the find.”

On Simon’s tour, he will take fans on a compelling journey back to his pre-OCS days. Fans can expect new songs and classic hits, fantastic tales and amusing anecdotes from one of Britpop’s central characters.

Simon said: “It’s 30 years since we released Moseley Shoals so I thought it was an ideal time to take my story and songs on the road. Like no tour I have done before, this will be a chance for fans to hear the tales behind the tunes.”
