Tyne Theatre Stage School presents Oliver Jr.
Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart's classic musical based on Charles Dickens' novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece by actors and audience members alike.
The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker, escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. Oliver! is full of classic songs like "Consider Yourself", "Food Glorious Food", and "Oom-Pah-Pah", and perfectly showcases the talents of this large ensemble cast.
Tyne Theatre Stage School has been providing first class performing arts training in Dance, Acting and Singing for children aged 3-18 since 1989. Their classes, located in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, provide the best studio and performance facilities whilst also teaching children to an extremely high standard in all areas of the performing arts.
This year's production of Oliver! celebrates their 35th Anniversary and they are delighted to be returning to the PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay with such a fantastic show and a very talented cast."
