The Bobby Thompson Story

  • Date: Thursday 6th March 2014
  • Time: 7.30pm

Bobby Thompson’s woodbine smoking “Little Waster” alter ego became a folk hero across the North East, yet this hid a man troubled by drink, gambling debts and the tax man.

Pete Peverley returns with his touching, heartfelt and very funny celebration of the life and work of this comic legend.

Using Bobby’s original costumes, the show is packed with his best material and follows his life from humble beginnings in a county Durham pit village in 1911 to radio star in the 50’s.  It all went wrong in the 60’s but he fought his way back to become the king of club land in the 70’s and 80’s.)

Come and relive some of your magical memories of this very special man and celebrate the culture to which we all owe our very unique identity and sense of humour
