PLAYHOUSE Playtime: Creative Dance Workshop & Performance
£8.00 per child + 1 free adult place
Friday 8th April 10 am – 12.15 pm (5+ Boys & Girls)
LP Dance in Education is delighted to be working in collaboration with PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay to provide dance workshops for children. The workshops will be led by Advisory Teacher (AST & QTS) for dance and established local choreographer, Laura Prince.
DANCE WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN
A creative/contemporary dance workshop based on the theme of ‘The Seaside’
Children will work creatively with the choreographer to explore and experiment with movement ideas taken from the local environment, past and present, such as the crashing waves in the North Sea, rock pooling at St Mary’s Lighthouse, eating candy floss, and riding dodgem cars.
Children will be given the opportunity to work independently, in pairs and in small groups to create a dance piece, which will be performed (on the PLAYHOUSE stage) in front of friends and family at the end of each workshop.
No prior experience in dance is required – just 100% enthusiasm and concentration!

Refreshments will be available for purchase at the bar throughout the event.
Parents are more than welcome to remain in the building with their child, or leave them in the safe hands of the LP Dance in Education Team, all of whom have an up to date DBS & full public liability insurance.
