On Monday the 17th of April & Tuesday the 18th of April, Anton Benson Productions return to Whitley Bay with 'Robin Hood', starring Gareth Gates, Graham Cole & Zippy and George from Rainbow! Will Robin seize the day and win the hand of his fair Maid Marion? All will be revealed in another laugh a minute, all-singing, all-dancing rollercoaster ride through pantoland! We have Whitney - Queen of the Night on Thursday the 20th of April. This stunning celebration of the music and life of one of the greatest singers of our time is an award-winning production featuring rising West End star Rebecca Freckleton delivering a powerhouse and breathtaking performance as Whitney.

Tynemouth Amateur Operatic Society will present 'Goodnight Mister Tom - The Musical' at the PLAYHOUSE from Wednesday the 24th to Sunday the 28th of May. This is a musical version of Michelle Magorian’s award-winning book, regarded as a modern classic. With Gary Carpenter’s soaring, tuneful score and Michelle Magorian’s beautiful lyrics, this is a wonderful, ultimately uplifting show which will appeal to young and old alike. This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd. On Saturday the 3rd of June, Mr Corvan's Music Hall arrives at the PLAYHOUSE. Written by Ed Waugh (Hadaway Harry, Sunday for Sammy, Laffalang, co-writer Maggie’s End, Alf Ramsay Knew My Grandfather, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Durham, Dirty Dusting), this fantastic new musical play tells the incredible story of the North East’s first music hall superstar...Ned Corvan. Corvan (1827 to 1865) was a comedian, virtuoso violinist, artist and singer/songwriter of hits including The Cullercoats Fish Lass. Based on the forthcoming book by renowned historian and author Dave Harker, this brilliant tragic-comedy stars Chris Connel (Pitmen Painters, UK tour and Broadway), Jamie Brown (Hadaway Harry, Culture 2016 Performing Artist of the Year) and Rachael McShane (Violinist for multi award winning folk group Bellowhead). In an amendment to the information within the brochure, Mr Corvan’s Music Hall will be directed by Gareth Tudor Price (Hull Truck and West End credits, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Durham).

On Saturday the 17th & Sunday the 18th of June, prepare yourselves for a special one hour production of Horrible Histories - The Best of Barmy Britain live on stage! Could you beat battling Boudicca? Will you lose your heart or your head to Henry VIII? Can Parliament survive gunpowder Guy? Would you stand and deliver to dastardly Dick Turpin? Escape the clutches of Burke and Hare and move to the groove with party Queen Victoria! Don’t miss this horrible history of Britain with the nasty bits left in! Ian Hunter & The Rant Band will appear as part of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival on Monday the 3rd of July. As leader of ’70’s British rock legends Mott The Hoople and a hugely influential solo artist, Ian Hunter is widely revered as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most compelling performers, as well as one of its most articulate songwriters.

On Sunday the 16th of July, join CBeebies' Mister Maker & The Shapes on their hit live theatre tour! With a fabulous supporting cast and art at its heart, this fantastic live show encourages Mini Makers and grown-ups to sing, dance and make some noise! Back by popular demand, Whitley Bay Theatre Company are returning to the PLAYHOUSE with another offering of the epic Father Ted from Wednesday the 26th of July to Saturday the 29th of July. With a new updated script, bigger set, bigger cast and just generally a bigger show all together.

Sparkling with fairy dust and full of magical moments, ABD Productions’ 'Peter Pan' will be a must-see from Thursday the 3rd to Saturday the 5th of August! Fall under the spell of Neverland, where children can fly and exciting adventures can happen. Meet the Darling family and Nana the dog. Join Peter Pan, mischievous Tinkerbell, The Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and the Indians as they tackle Captain Hook and his pirates. Make new friends with the bossy Neverbird, the planet dancers and the water sprites. Anne Dalton, award winning writer of “Her Benny”, has worked her musical magic on this tale which never ages. Don’t miss it!

Thank you very much for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon at the PLAYHOUSE.
