The PLAYHOUSE Brochure is BACK!

As from today, our brochure, full to the brim with outstanding acts, is available to view online – hard copies will be in the post later this week. Inside the latest edition of ‘What’s On’ you will find an astonishing assortment of acts coming to Whitley Bay throughout this year, and the start of 2017 (A copy can be viewed here: http://content.yudu.com/Library/A3zeu3/PLAYHOUSEWhitleyBayB/resources/index.htm?referrerUrl=http%3A%2F%2Ffree.yudu.com%2Fitem%2Fdetails%2F3729758%2FPLAYHOUSE-Whitley-Bay-Brochure-2016-). It is our continued pleasure to offer another diverse combination of amusement for your perusal.

Look out for the biggest loo roll ever on stage when TaleGate Theatre Productions’ The Giant’s Loo Roll arrives at the PLAYHOUSE on Saturday the 4th of June! Featuring the perfect combination of witty humour, fantastic music and a touch of sparkle, this is a fabulously funny and brilliantly bouncy musical adaptation of Nicholas Allan’s much-loved book. On Saturday the 11th of June, prepare for a nostalgia party extravaganza as the legendary That’ll Be The Day returns with another chance to see its 30th Anniversary Special! The nation’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll variety spectacular features a fantastic line up of knock-out hits from the 50s, 60s & 70s, plus some side-splitting comedy!

We’re delighted to host the launch of North Tyneside Council’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival on Friday the 17th of June with the sensational Ronnie Spector in Ronnie Spector Sings the Fabulous Ronettes! Ronnie and her American band will perform all the Ronettes hits – “Be My Baby,” “Baby I Love You,” “Do I Love You,” “Walking in the Rain,” and more – as well as songs originally recorded by the group that became successful for other artists, such as “I Can Hear Music” (Beach Boys) and “Chapel of Love” (Dixie Cups). Continuing the Mouth of the Tyne Festival celebrations, we have The Temperance Movement on Thursday the 7th of July. In 2012, their five-track Pride EP introduced them to the world, and their debut studio album, 2014’s The Temperance Movement, announced the arrival of a major rock band. Their new album, White Bear, is their giant step forward.

He’s still rude, he’s still crude and on Saturday the 27th of August, Roy Chubby Brown will be on the PLAYHOUSE stage. As politically incorrect as ever ‘The World’s Most Outrageous Comedian’ is far too rude for TV, so this live performance is the only place to catch the flamboyant comedian!  If easily offended please stay away!  On Thursday the 22nd of September, we welcome the charismatic Paul Metcalfe in Some Guys Have All The Luck – The Rod Stewart Story, a brand new theatrical production celebrating the career of one of rocks greatest icons – from street busker through to international superstar! The show has all the huge hits from Rod’s incredible career, including classic rockers like ‘Maggie May’, ‘Baby Jane’ and ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy’ through to big ballads such as ‘Sailing’, ‘You’re In My Heart’, and ‘Tonight’s The Night’, as well as favourites from his days with the Faces such as ‘Stay With Me’, ‘Twistin’ The Night Away’ and timeless Motown tunes from the album Soulbook. Bye Bye Baby: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons reaches us on Thursday the 6th of October. This show celebrates hits such as ‘Beggin’; ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’; ‘Walk Like A Man’; ‘Let's Hang On’;  ‘Who Loves You’; ‘December ’63 (Oh What A Night)’; ‘Bye Bye Baby’; ‘Can't Take my Eyes off You’; ‘Fallen Angel ‘and ‘Grease’ through to a superb grand finale medley of more of the group’s greatest hits.

On Sunday the 9th of October, we have The Carpenters Story; an award-winning commemoration of the music of one of the most successful pop duos in music history, Richard & Karen Carpenter. Starring the internationally acclaimed Claire Furley as Karen Carpenter, state of the art video projection and lavish arrangements, this show will take you on an incredible journey through the legend that was The Carpenters. Featuring all the timeless hits including ‘(They Long To Be) Close To You’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Superstar’, ‘Yesterday Once More’, ‘Top of the World’, ‘Please Mr Postman’, and many more! With over 15 years international touring experience, The Illegal Eagles' uncanny ability to capture the emotion of  Don Henley’s vocals and the band’s definitive sound, have won mass audience acclaim both in the UK and abroad. This latest production, with us on Saturday the 15th of October, features all the classics – ‘Hotel California’, ‘Take It Easy’, ‘Lyin’ Eyes’, ‘Desperado’, ‘Life in the Fast Lane’, ‘Take it to the Limit’, and a whole lot more!

As always, thank you very much for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon at the PLAYHOUSE.
