North Tyneside Council presents

Ronnie Spector Sings the Fabulous Ronettes

Friday 17th June 2016

The PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay, in partnership with North Tyneside Council, is delighted to announce that Pauline Murray (Penetration/The Invisible Girls) will support Ronnie Spector at the launch of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival on Friday the 17th of June!

Ronnie and her American band will perform all the Ronettes hits – “Be My Baby,” “Baby I Love You,” “Do I Love You,” “Walking in the Rain,” and more – as well as  songs originally recorded by the group that became successful for other artists, such as “I Can Hear Music” (Beach Boys) and “Chapel of Love” (Dixie Cups). Longtime fans will thrill with the inclusion of such Ronettes cult classics as “Paradise,” expressly written for Ronnie by the late Harry Nilsson.

Ronnie Spector Sings the Fabulous Ronettes follows the singer’s last UK appearance, in December 2015 at London’s Barbican, when “her voice still with that mix of innocence and lasciviousness” (The Times) prompted critical acclaim, and “There was not a bum note in this lovingly conceived and executed show” (The Scotsman). The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee recently released the first new Ronettes recording in 49 years, “English Heart”.

Tickets priced at £32.50 and £29.50 are available now.
