Boyzone Legend Shane Lynch Headlines Blue Genie Entertainment’s Panto at the PLAYHOUSE!

This winter, Blue Genie Entertainment returns to the PLAYHOUSE with the lavish professional pantomime ‘Aladdin’. The same creative team that produced last year’s record-breaking panto, ‘Snow White’, have been brought back together to create another theatrical spectacular in Whitley Bay from the 5th of December 2016 to the 2nd of January 2017.

Producer Gary Telfer said: “We can’t wait to produce ‘Aladdin’, it has to be one of the most popular and traditional pantomimes of them all. This year is going to be our biggest and best year ever and we are thrilled to have signed Shane Lynch from the legendary group Boyzone. They still have a massive following and are one of the biggest groups in the country, so I’m sure there will be plenty of people out there who would like to see Shane perform in panto, the group have sold over 30 million records in the UK alone. Shane is a fantastic performer so I’m sure the audience are in for a real treat. We know how popular the PLAYHOUSE pantomime was last year, in fact, most of the shows sold out, so we’re extending the run this year in order to get everyone in. We are keen to continue building the reputation on the Pantomime in Whitley Bay, which has grown dramatically over the last 5 years.”

There will be 51 action-packed performances of ‘Aladdin’ at the PLAYHOUSE, featuring a host of top quality professional performers. Joining Boyzone’s Shane Lynch as Abanazar, PLAYHOUSE favourite Steve Walls (back by popular demand for his 7th year) playing Wishee Washee, and the returning Charlotte Chinn as Princess Jasmine, will be Sam Ebenezer as Aladdin, comedy duo Short & Curly (Rebecca Shorrocks and Paul F Taylor) as the Peking Police (fresh from a stint and the Edinburgh Fringe), Grant Flanagan as Widow Twankey, and local actress Georgia Nicholson as the Genie!

Director Paul Ferguson said: “It’s going to be great fun for all the family. ‘Aladdin’ is a traditional story and it’s our job to make sure the audience gets a great show. It has something for everyone. We can’t wait to get started with this Christmas production.”
