Flummoxed finding a gift for Father’s Day? We’ve a vast array of performances for you to peruse in the all-important search for the perfect present! From live music to spoken word, with a dose of comedy thrown in for good measure, we’re sure there’ll be something special in our event listings to delight your Dad!

Starting us off on Friday the 1st of July, we welcome the return of Junco Partners (in the Foyer Bar) for another night of fantastic R 'n' B! Formed in 1964, the Junco Partners later went on to play alongside the likes of The Who and Rod Stewart. Now returned to their R'n'B roots, they continue to receive support from a growing and enthusiastic audience, playing only at a few well selected gigs.

The Counterfeit Sixties arrives at the PLAYHOUSE on Friday the 15th of July for a night of nostalgia! Britain’s No. 1 tribute show brings alive the magic of the sixties with their tribute to over twenty five bands of that era. The show encompasses everything from that period, from the clothes that were worn, to flashbacks from television history, including: TV programmes, adverts and even clips from the original bands.

The Ken Dodd Happiness Show rolls into Whitley Bay for two evenings of extraordinary entertainment on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of August! Ken Dodd's incredible and hugely successful career as a professional entertainer spans over 60 fun-filled years. He is a comedian of unrivalled legendary status; an icon and national treasure who has been entertaining audiences for a lifetime of happiness and laughter.

On Sunday the 21st of August, we have A Salute To The 1940s - The Dad’s Army Variety Show Special – a very special variety show, packed full of the stars who kept the nation entertained during the dark years of 2 world wars. This show will have the crowd on their feet, singing along and waving their flags with pride!

On Saturday the 27th of August, we host Roy Chubby Brown (18+). He’s still rude, he’s still crude and this time he’s turning headlines into punch lines as his rip-roaring brand of banter continues to burst bellies across the country.

From Wednesday the 7th to Saturday the 10th of September, we have the return of Whitley Bay Theatre Company’s ‘Father Ted’. With a new updated script, bigger set, bigger cast and just generally a bigger show all together, this is certainly not to be missed!

On Saturday the 24th of September, The Two Mikes (Mike Parry & Mike Graham) bring their cult TalkSPORT radio show to the PLAYHOUSE. Described as watching two old mates arguing in a pub, it's a no holds barred conversation that takes in the pair's adventures chasing celebrities, politicians and assorted crooks. The drink will be flowing, secrets will be revealed and there's almost certain to be a row!

On Monday the 26th of September, Professor Robert Winston takes to our stage with his talk, 'Modifying Humans: Where does genetics stop?’ History shows that humans are obsessed with their genes. Does the sequencing of the human genome really herald a new opportunity for medicine or is there a darker side that we ignore?

On Saturday the 1st of October, Ol’ Blue Eyes is back in The Sinatra & Friends Holographic Concert – a unique live visual and auditory spectacle performed at the PLAYHOUSE by an incredible cast of live singers and musicians, as well as Holographic presences of the legendary Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald and more!

Whitley Bay Operatic Society presents ‘Spamalot’ at the PLAYHOUSE from Tuesday the 1st to Saturday the 5th of November. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy (or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burnings (cancelled due to health and safety) not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people.
