Whitley Bay Operatic Society are looking for people to join them for 'The King & I'
If you know your Von Trapps from your 7 Brides, your Calamity Jane’s from your Sandra Dees or own at least 3 Musical soundtracks then this could be the opportunity for you!
Whitley Bay Operatic Society would like to invite potential new members and returning existing members to join them for their next production of “The King & I”, due to be staged at the PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay from Wednesday 30th October through to Saturday 2nd November 2013.
The stageshow (based on a true story) was originally a cinematic hit in 1956 starring Yul Brynner as the stubborn King of Siam opposite Deborah Kerr as the head-strong, yet caring British Governess, Anna Leonowens, hired to educate the young princes and princesses of Siam. Teamed with famous classic songs such as ‘Getting to Know You’, “Whistle a Happy Tune” and a dramatic dance number “Small House of Uncle Thomas”, this would be an ideal platform for those wishing to participate in musical theatre.
The Society promotes an inclusive attitude welcoming members of any age, gender, height or size – you don’t need to be semi-pro or have previous experience just enthusiasm, dedication and willing to be part of a team.
Rehearsals are usually Thursday evenings for Chorus increasing to Mondays and Thursdays nearer the performance date. There are different rates for annual membership based on performing/non-performing members.
If you don’t fancy performing we always welcome willing volunteers to help out back-stage or front of house with marketing, stage crew or programme selling.
Outside of the 2-yearly performances, there’s several social and fundraising events organised for members AND families to take part.
If you’d like further information regarding joining please contact Simon Pinkney (Society Secretary) on 07961785923 or email@example.com
