Tynemouth Amateur Operatic Society

Tynemouth Amateur Operatic Society (TAOS) is a group of like-minded people who enjoy singing and acting.  The Society was formed in 1947, performing at the Albion Cinema in North Shields.  Throughout the years we have presented our shows at various venues within North Shields and Tynemouth, moving to the Playhouse in Whitley Bay in 1977 where we have been performing ever since.

TAOS aims to deliver two shows every year - both with an individual approach.  Rehearsals take place weekly on Friday evenings at North Shields Baptist Church from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

We produce a range of shows to suit all tastes and in 2010 we were very proud to present the north eastern premiere of Beauty and the Beast.

Our Management Committee works hard to help raise the standards of all our performances and we have many talented members within our Society.

Anyone who would be interested in joining us either on stage or to work backstage would be made very welcome.
